The inaugural Leeds Cello Masterclasses were held over the weekend of 9th and 10th July 2016. Eight intrepid cellists of all ages attended. Repertoire from Tallis and Vivaldi through to Martinů was played/performed/taught! It was a wonderful combination of great cello playing and great food, provided by Haley & Cliffords, the wonderful delicatessen and caterers in local Roundhay.
Each morning started with warm-ups, technique and Cello Ensemble, and there was plenty of time for Q & A for myself and Heather.
Lunch of sandwiches, cakes and much more...
Heather and Petra discuss the brownies.
The afternoon sessions were a combination of masterclasses and individual lessons.
Jason performing Dvorak and Sue, Chopin.
Rosie performing Bryars.
Anna performing Boccherini and Alison, Granados.
Jason and Sue with Christian on continuo performing Vivaldi's Double Cello Concerto.
